Citizens in the region will have to travel to Alicante to apply for Generalitat rental aid, after the Consell decided not to renew funding for the Xarxa Xaloc network.

Alcoy City Council has reported that the call for these regional subsidies will be published imminently. Until last year, Xarxa Xaloc provided a joint service for advice and support in processing these grants, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Department of Housing. However, the disappearance of this network due to a lack of regional funds has left users without this local resource.
Currently, applicants are required to go to the Department of Housing offices located in Alicante to manage their files. The PROP offices, meanwhile, are limited to acting as a registry for submitting documentation, without offering technical assistance in preparing the applications.

"The Consell's decision to cut funding for Xarxa Xaloc now translates into an abandonment of the people who need these grants the most, forcing them to make trips to Alicante to guarantee their fundamental right to housing."

Teresa Sanjuán · Councilor for Housing
The local government has criticized the fact that the publication of the grants coincides once again with the month of August. According to the council, this timing hinders a procedure that should be accessible, creating a disconnect with the real needs of the public and increasing the administrative burden on families.
