The Association of Sant Jordi joins the Modernist Fair of Alcoy with a historical Glory dedicated to the renowned composer Gonzalo Barrachina. The event will take place on Sunday, September 27th, at 12:00 PM, starting its route at Font Redona and concluding at the Church of Sant Jordi.
The twenty-eight festive groups (filaes) of the city will recreate the festive aesthetic of the years 1915-1919, the era when the Festival Anthem was officially established. The president of the Association, Paco García, highlighted the importance of participating in the fair, especially in the year celebrating the 750th anniversary of Sant Jordi's patronage. The parade will feature the sergeants, including the new Christian sergeant, and will be accompanied musically by the Primitiva and Nova d'Alcoi bands, performing works by Barrachina and zarzuela pieces.
The Councilor for Tourism, Lorena Zamorano, positively valued the initiative, emphasizing how collaboration with local entities contributes to the economic reactivation and social dynamism of Alcoy.
The artistic advisor of the Association, Carla Julià, explained the research work undertaken by the filaes. While the Moorish formations will present subtle variations, the Christian side will undergo a significant visual transformation. For instance, the Almogàvers will appear as Astures, the Tomasines as the Escuadrón de San Jorge, the Creuats as Visigodos, and the Aragonesos as Salomonistes, aiming for historical accuracy with details from the modernist period.
