The decision, reached by consensus, affects the sabatina prayer, the mass, and the procession with the image, which will take place at the Parish of San Mauro and San Francisco and the Glorieta. The traditional 'sopar de cabasset' will remain at the latter location, with the option to move to the Ágora in case of rain.
This measure responds to a report from the Generalitat Valenciana's Service for the Management of Protected Natural Spaces. The document, signed by the director of the Font Roja Natural Park, warns that despite regulatory compatibility, the current weather situation with high temperatures and lack of rain has raised the fire danger to critical levels.
The report highlights that the Font Roja Sanctuary area, with a single access point and surrounded by forest, would hinder any evacuation or firefighting operation in case of emergency. For this reason, the use of safer alternative locations is recommended.
To facilitate attendance, the council will provide a special free bus service with several stops throughout the city, including points such as San Nicolás, Puente de San Jorge Avenue, and the bus station, among others. Regarding the Pilgrimage on September 21, it remains scheduled for now, subject to weather conditions and the absence of extreme fire risk alerts.
