The subsidiary action was taken after the owning companies, linked to the real estate and banking sectors, failed to respond to legal requests from the local administration. The council adhered to legal deadlines before accessing the land to ensure the area's sanitation, which had generated neighbor complaints about pest infestations.
Previously, the Parks and Gardens department intensified rat control and pest management treatments in the surrounding area to minimize disturbances. Once the second notice period expired without any action from the owners, the City Council proceeded with the cleaning and will now bill the total cost of the work to the owning companies.
Clearing and tree-felling work began this Tuesday on the Tirant Lo Blanc plots. Removed specimens will be shredded on-site. Subsequently, a pest control company will address the area. These tasks are being coordinated between the Gardens, Environment departments, and the company FCC.

The Councilor for Services, Jordi Martínez, recalled that an expediente has been opened against the plot owners, as the lack of maintenance has created a fire risk and fostered rodent infestations reported by citizens. Martínez praised the execution of these subsidiary works, "as they allow us to guarantee a dignified and healthy environment for all the residents of the area".
In parallel, the relevant department has identified other municipal and private plots in similar situations to advance requests early next year and prevent future issues. The City Council has acted "as quickly as possible," regretting the inconvenience suffered by the neighborhood.
