Official data from the Crime Report of the Ministry of the Interior, corresponding to the first half of 2026, shows a 0.5% reduction in total crime registered in Alcoy, decreasing from 1,141 criminal offenses recorded between January and June 2025 to 1,135 in the same period of 2026.
Cybercrime, which represents a significant portion of total offenses, decreased by 7.3% (from 343 to 318 cases). Within this category, online scams were reduced by 5.6% (from 287 to 271 cases), while other cybercrimes fell by 16.1% (from 56 to 47).
Decreases were also recorded in several conventional crime typologies: robberies with violence or intimidation dropped by 55.6% (from 18 to 8 cases); robberies with force in homes, establishments, and other facilities decreased by 11.3% (from 53 to 47); burglaries fell by 11.4% (from 44 to 39); thefts decreased by 5.7% (from 193 to 182); and drug trafficking fell by 50% (from 6 to 3 cases).
Regarding crimes against sexual freedom, the total number increased from 11 to 13 cases (+18.2%), with 8 sexual assaults with penetration compared to 5 the previous year. Other crimes against sexual freedom decreased from 6 to 5 (-16.7%). The City Council regrets the increase in sexual assaults and deems it necessary to continue working on prevention and victim protection.
Vehicle thefts doubled, increasing from 12 to 24 cases, primarily motorcycles. Serious and less serious crimes of injury and public brawls increased by 63.6% (from 11 to 18 cases).
The Councilor for Security, Raül Llopis, stated that "Alcoy is a safe city, but we will not be complacent. We will continue working with security forces to improve coexistence and guarantee the tranquility of Alcoy's residents."
Llopis highlighted that the official data from the Ministry of the Interior show a 0.5% decrease in overall criminal offenses and significant drops in robberies, thefts, drug trafficking, and cybercrime.
The councilor emphasized the need to address increases rigorously, regretting the rise in sexual assaults, and urged that discussions on security be based on responsibility and the full set of official data, avoiding the generation of alarmism.
