The event, taking place on Wednesday, October 21st at the Cervantes Jove Center (CCJ), will bring together students from centers such as IES Andreu Sempere, IES Pare Vitòria, Colegio Carmelitas Vedruna, Colegio Esclavas SCJ, Colegio Santa Ana, Colegio José Arnauda, and Colegio Salesiano San Vicente Ferrer. Each center will be represented by five peer mediators.
The main objective of the meeting is to create a space for exchange of experiences and training for peer mediators. Peer mediation is considered a key tool for fostering dialogue, active listening, empathy, and the search for shared solutions to everyday disagreements, thereby contributing to more respectful educational environments.
The session will be facilitated by Miguel Valdivieso, a senior technician in Sociocultural and Tourist Animation and a registered mediator in the Valencian Community, who will offer practical tools for developing mediation work.
The Councilor for Education, Alberto Belda, highlighted the importance of these initiatives that empower students in building positive coexistence. 'Education is not just about transmitting knowledge, but also about providing students with tools to relate, listen, and resolve differences with respect,' Belda stated.
Belda also emphasized that the meeting will allow peer mediators to share experiences, acquire new resources, and learn different approaches to conflict resolution, thus reinforcing the Culture of Peace in the city.
This initiative is part of the work of the Local Coexistence Table to promote educational tools that prevent and manage conflicts peacefully, with the aim of transferring the acquired learning to the daily lives of their respective school environments.
