The Alcoy City Council and the Sant Jordi Association have formalized their collaboration agreement for 2026, which includes a direct contribution of 300,000 euros for the Festivities, the Alcoyano Museum of the Festival (MAF), and the 750th-anniversary events.

The agreement, signed by mayor Toni Francés and Association president Paco García, outlines municipal support for the Moors and Christians Festivities, the maintenance of the MAF, and the commemorative events for the 750th anniversary of Sant Jordi's Patronage, as well as a broad program of cultural, social, and sports activities.
The direct financial contribution from the City Council amounts to 300,000 euros, divided into 200,000 euros for the ordinary Festivities, MAF, and activities agreement, and 100,000 euros as an extraordinary subsidy for the 750th anniversary. Additionally, 21,503.50 euros are allocated for the free use of municipal cultural spaces, such as the Calderón Theatre and the Salesians Theatre. The total value of municipal collaboration, including other unquantified resources and services, could exceed 500,000 euros.
The funds allocated for the subsidy must be justified by the Association, which must also provide its own financing to cover the cost of activities. Planned activities include events for the 750th anniversary, MAF exhibitions, collaboration in the Alcoy Christmas events, training courses, and cultural competitions.
The agreement also covers the official events of the Moors and Christians Festivities, such as the Gloria, Entradas, Processions, Guerrillas, and other traditional activities. It also includes the management and conservation of the Alcoyano Museum of the Festival, aiming to promote and preserve the heritage of the festivities.
A notable commitment in the agreement is the promotion of women's integration into the Festivities, in line with Alcoy's Plan for Equal Opportunities. Mechanisms for control and justification of public funds are established, with a Monitoring Commission comprising representatives from both institutions.
The Councilor for Festivities, Jordi Martínez, emphasized that the agreement ensures coverage for a significant portion of the Association's annual activities, extending beyond the main days of the Festivities, and highlighted the importance of transparency and inclusion.
