One dead in a collision on the A-70 motorway near Alicante

A man died after being struck by a vehicle this Friday on the A-70 motorway, near Villafranqueza in Alicante, after exiting his car following a rear-end collision.

The incident occurred around 6:25 PM at kilometer 13 of the road that bypasses the city. According to initial reports, a rear-end collision took place, and one of the drivers subsequently exited their vehicle, at which point they were struck by another car and died at the scene.
The driver who caused the collision was subjected to testing, in which they tested positive for both alcohol and narcotics. Consequently, they are facing an investigation for alleged crimes of reckless homicide and traffic safety violations.
The accident coincided with the weekend getaway, causing traffic jams of up to four kilometers in the bypass direction. Emergency teams had to restrict road capacity while collecting evidence and removing the involved vehicles.
