With the aim of reducing the irregular dumping of bulky items in public spaces, the San Vicente del Raspeig City Council, through its cleaning service San Vicente Contigo, has launched the ‘SanVicent POP’ campaign. The initiative uses humor, simulating classified ads from buy-and-sell platforms like Wallapop with photographs of abandoned waste, to generate impact and encourage reflection on citizens' responsibility in maintaining the municipality.
The Councilor for Urban Services, Antonio Díaz, explained that the campaign aims to draw attention to a situation that is "perfectly avoidable" and to remind people that there is a free collection service that covers all neighborhoods daily to remove large items.
The initiative coincides with the start of the university academic year, a period when changes in rental properties increase. Therefore, it specifically reminds students, property owners, and residents that the municipal service is prepared to handle this type of waste.
Requests for bulky item collection can be made through various channels: by calling 900 102 951, sending a WhatsApp message to 607 348 781, in person at the Citizen Attention Office for Urban Services (located at the Casa de Asociaciones), or via the website santvicentnet.net, which will be operational in the coming days. The service, exclusive to individuals, allows for the removal of up to three items per household per week.
The councilor emphasized the importance of contacting the service before leaving items on the street, stating that "the street is not Wallapop nor a place to leave what we no longer want." He highlighted that abandoning bulky items not only pollutes the city and creates a bad image but can also obstruct the passage of vehicles and people, especially those with mobility issues.
“"With a gesture as simple as notifying the waste collection service, we can all contribute to a cleaner and more pleasant San Vicente."
