The Generalitat has launched the Plan Vive Valencian Community, with 2,961 homes underway in Alicante province, including 50 public housing units (VPP) for affordable rent in El Campello.

First Vice-President and Minister of Housing, Employment, Youth, and Equality, Susana Camarero, has highlighted the progress of the Plan Vive Comunitat Valenciana in the province of Alicante, where 2,961 homes are already in various stages of development. Camarero visited the construction site of 50 VPP in El Campello, which will be allocated for affordable rent.
Accompanied by the mayor of El Campello, Juan José Berenguer, and other regional officials, Camarero emphasized the Consell's commitment to addressing the housing shortage through public-private collaboration. The Plan Vive Comunitat Valenciana is promoting over 4,800 public housing units across the autonomous community, exceeding 6,000 when including privately promoted developments.
The development visited in El Campello, situated on a 975 m² plot, has a budget of over 6.7 million euros, with contributions from European funds. Construction, which began in June 2025, is 52% complete and is expected to finish before the end of the year. The project utilizes the surface rights tender formula, allowing for the expansion of public housing stock without the administration losing land ownership.
The building will feature 50 VPP distributed into 1, 2, and 3-bedroom units, with underground parking, common areas, bicycle parking, and storage rooms. Two accessible units will be reserved, and 40% (20 units) will be allocated to young people under 35, with rental prices ranging from 490 to 670 euros.
The mayor of El Campello described the development as a "long-pursued dream" and highlighted the 110 public housing units underway in the municipality. This project is part of Lot 1 of Phase I of the surface rights tender for affordable rent, which totals 317 homes across three key provincial municipalities.
In the city of Alicante, the Rabasa neighborhood has seen the construction of 34 terraced houses, with 98% completion. In Sant Joan d'Alacant, 235 public housing units are under construction, with completion anticipated by December of this year.
Camarero concluded by stating that this progress consolidates an efficient public-private collaboration network, ensuring affordable and dignified housing for families and young people in Alicante.
