Deputies from the PSPV and the representative from Compromís walked out of the Alicante Provincial Council plenary session this Wednesday, in protest over the decision not to admit a motion regarding rural transport.

The plenary session saw tense moments as opposition groups decided to leave the chamber. According to their statements, the institution's presidency blocked the debate on an initiative focused on launching an on-demand transport service for the province's smaller municipalities.
The provincial executive defended the neutrality of the general secretariat in applying the regulations. The vice-presidency denied that the rules were used as a tool to silence the opposition and described the walkout as a tantrum, noting that the institution continues its work with other investment plans recently approved.
The socialist group has filed an appeal against the decision, arguing that the rejected motion is different from another one debated last January. According to their spokesperson, the proposal sought concrete measures to guarantee rural mobility during 2026 and 2027, a matter they consider to be of public interest that should not have been vetoed.
