The Alicante Institute of Health and Biomedical Research (ISABIAL) is organizing the fifth edition of its ‘Open Science Open Days’ on September 25th at the Alicante Provincial Council Auditorium.

This free initiative, open to all audiences, aims to bring science closer to society and foster scientific education, particularly among young people. The event will bring together health professionals, researchers, educational centers, patient associations, and citizens.
The program combines practical workshops, health education talks, presentations with live demonstrations, and outreach activities. The Alicante Simulation and Innovation Laboratory will offer hands-on experiences, such as stepping into a surgeon's shoes, learning emergency procedures, or exploring the mind's function through virtual reality.
Talks will cover topics like sexuality and prevention, the risks of tobacco and vaping, and screen addiction. There will also be activities on cognitive stimulation, healthy eating with culinary demonstrations and cooking workshops for people with dysphagia, as well as physical activity sessions for healthy aging.
As a novelty, ‘Unfiltered Science: 15-Minute Scientific Monologues’ will be launched, where ISABIAL researchers will explain their work in an engaging and accessible way. According to the managing director, Elena Bertomeu, the goal is to show that “science can also be fun and relatable,” spreading curiosity to inspire vocations.
