The detainees, aged 33 and 35, were considered the leader and a collaborator of a criminal organization dedicated to exporting large quantities of cocaine, amphetamine, and marijuana to Germany. The joint investigation between German authorities and the Civil Guard began following the escape of the two men to Spain in June 2025, after months of police operations in Germany.
The German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) had been tracking the group since 2021. Police pressure in Germany led the two individuals to move to Spanish territory, prompting a request for collaboration from the Civil Guard. The Organized Crime and Anti-Drug Team (EDOA) of the Alicante Command took over the investigation.
Officers managed to locate the ringleader in Alicante and his accomplice in Tenerife. However, the fugitives' constant movements to evade capture complicated the arrests. Finally, on January 28, 2026, the alleged collaborator was arrested in Tenerife. The other detainee was located and apprehended in a home in Cartagena (Murcia) on July 7.
During the investigation conducted by German authorities, numerous drug shipments were intercepted. The two arrested men have been handed over to the National Court and have been remanded in custody, awaiting extradition to their country of origin.
