The Generalitat's Network of Women's Centers has seen a significant increase in assistance to women victims of gender violence during the first half of 2026. A total of 7,093 women were assisted, over a thousand more than the 6,038 in the same period of 2025. The total number of interventions reached 23,888, a 15.6% increase from the previous year, solidifying the network as a key resource for comprehensive care.
Of these women, 2,134 sought assistance for the first time, primarily for counseling, while 4,959 have ongoing cases from previous years and continue to receive follow-up. Interventions were distributed among in-person assistance (12,213), outreach (4,203), telephone calls (7,381), and video conferencing (91).
The first vice-president and Minister of Equality, Susana Camarero, highlighted that these results confirm the Women's Centers as a priority resource for offering protection and close support to victims.
By province, Alicante assisted 3,106 women, Valencia 2,583, and Castellón 1,404. Cases handled include physical, psychological, and sexual abuse, sexual assault and harassment, human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and forced marriages. The Generalitat has strengthened follow-up and brought resources closer to remote areas.
The network currently employs 239 professionals (social workers, psychologists, and lawyers) to expedite assistance. Three new Crisis Centers for sexual assault (one per province) and the 14-hour Women's Center in Elche have been established, along with two new contracted residential centers for victims of trafficking and sexual exploitation. This has expanded residential places from 362 to 374.
The Generalitat has also tendered expired contracts for centers and residences to improve services. In the first half of the year, 699 minors, children of women victims of violence, were assisted, with 295 in Alicante, 256 in Valencia, and 148 in Castellón.
The network operates 11 multidisciplinary centers across the Valencian Community, offering 24-hour services in Valencia, Alicante, and Castellón de la Plana, and 14-hour daily services in eight other centers. The Telephone Assistance Service 900 580 888 complements the offerings.
