The San Vicente del Raspeig City Council has approved the modification of the works contract for the interior renovation of the Guardia Civil barracks, located on Poeta Miguel Hernández street. This action will allow the rehabilitation, supervised by the Architecture department, to resume with improvements worth 20,800 euros. The objective is to enhance the building's value and adapt workspaces and citizen service areas.
The mayor and urban planning councilor, Pachi Pascual, explained that the renovation of the barracks, which has served the city since 1931, is expected to continue shortly. The reform aims to modernize the facility and create administrative spaces, waiting areas, and citizen service zones in accordance with new accessibility and building regulations.
The works, initially awarded to Husia Altea for 173,300 euros, will increase to 194,000 euros. The expansion addresses the needs of the force and adjusts timelines. Construction began in May and was suspended in July to incorporate the rehabilitation of a former residential space into new administrative offices. This allows for the elimination of prefabricated modules initially planned for the central courtyard, which will now be available for operational use.
Furthermore, asbestos-containing materials were detected during the preliminary phase, necessitating their removal. The project modification also includes structural interventions and repairs to the tiled roof. These improvements, which have the required authorizations, represent an increase of approximately 21,000 euros over the initial price.
The new execution timelines are divided into three phases of 60 days each, separated by one-month intervals, to facilitate the relocation and evacuation of spaces by the Guardia Civil unit, which will continue its regular duties in the building.
The technical service of the Mancomunitat de L’Alacantí participated in the study for the interior reform of the Guardia Civil facilities. The project includes improvements to flooring, ceilings, lighting, electrical, and telecommunications systems, pre-installation of air conditioning, and replacement of carpentry.
