The Valencian Meteorology Association (Avamet) reported that the second highest value was recorded in Callosa d’en Sarrià, also in the province of Alicante, with 36.9 degrees Celsius. These figures place both towns at the forefront of the highest temperatures recorded in the region.
In the province of Valencia, inland areas experienced high temperatures, with Teresa de Cofrentes reaching 36.6 degrees Celsius and Requena marking 36.2. These readings confirm the impact of the heat in the inland districts, with a particularly muggy atmosphere during the central hours of the day.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) detailed notable figures by province. In Castellón, Atzeneta del Maestrat reached 35.8 degrees Celsius, while in Alicante, Novelda was close with 35.7 degrees Celsius.
The provincial capitals also recorded relevant temperatures for an August day: Alicante with 32.7 degrees Celsius, Castellón with 33.9, and Valencia with 32.2 degrees Celsius.
The heat was widespread throughout the Valencian Community, with particular incidence in the inland and coastal areas of Alicante. In municipalities like Altea and Callosa d’en Sarrià, the combination of heat and humidity may have increased the perceived temperature.
In the face of intense heat episodes, meteorological services recommend caution: frequent hydration, avoiding prolonged sun exposure during central hours, and paying special attention to elderly people, children, and vulnerable groups.
