Alicante to renovate sports courts in Garbinet, Colonia Requena and La Cigüeña

The city council is investing over 265,000 euros to modernize these facilities within four months.

Alicante City Council has approved the comprehensive renovation of sports courts located in the neighborhoods of Garbinet, Colonia Requena, and San Gabriel, with a four-month execution period.

The Government Board has given the green light to this project, which has a budget of 265,274 euros. The work, promoted by the Department of Infrastructure, aims to improve the condition of municipal sports spaces to encourage physical activity among citizens.
The work will focus on the courts on Deportista Navarro Olcina street, in the Garbinet neighborhood; the futsal and minibasket facilities on Cronista Figueras Pacheco street, in Colonia Requena; and the basketball and minibasket courts at the La Cigüeña Sports Center, in the San Gabriel neighborhood.

The renovation plan includes cleaning and demolishing the current pavement, creating a new base, renewing drainage systems, and improving perimeter fencing. Additionally, sports equipment will be replaced, benches will be installed, and lighting will be upgraded with more energy-efficient and brighter floodlights.
