Alicante City Council has initiated the procedures to establish the fiscal ordinance that will regulate entrance fees for the future International Cigarreras Museum, aiming to open its doors by the end of 2026.

The council seeks to finalize all administrative management for the launch of this cultural facility, which will be located in the former Casa de la Misericordia. According to municipal forecasts, the inauguration could take place between October and November 2026.
The Treasury department is currently calculating the rates that visitors will have to pay. Free access has been ruled out, and a system of differentiated prices is being designed for groups such as minors, retirees, pensioners, and large families. Technical reports have advised against exemptions for city residents, considering them discriminatory.
The draft ordinance could be submitted for provisional approval in the municipal plenary session in the coming months, allowing for a period of public allegations before final approval. This regulation precedes the debate on entrance fees for other heritage sites such as the Santa Bárbara Castle.
The project has accumulated an investment of over 8.4 million euros, including renovation works, security contracts, furniture, and the programming of the first exhibitions. These actions are independent of the comprehensive rehabilitation of the historic building.
