The University of Alicante (UA) has opened the electoral campaign period for the renewal of its highest representative body, the University Senate, a process undertaken following the entry into force of the institution's new statutes.

The University Senate, responsible for internal regulations and overseeing UA's management, will undergo a complete renewal. Newly elected members will serve for six years, except for student representatives who are elected every two years.
As explained by the UA's General Secretary, Josep Ochoa, the total renewal is due to the implementation of the new statutes. The electoral process adheres to the university's established regulations. Following the close of the candidacy submission period (October 16-22) and the draw for the electronic electoral board (November 3), the election campaign commences today, November 4, and will conclude on November 11.
Electronic voting will take place on November 12 and 13, with the final proclamation of elected candidates scheduled for November 19.
With the reform of the statutes, the Senate comprises tenured doctoral professors, tenured non-doctoral professors, assistants and research staff, associate, emeritus, and visiting professors, students, and technical, management, and administrative and service staff.
