The University Campus of La Nucía hosted the presentation of the “Municipal Project for Educational Literacy in Artificial Intelligence”, an initiative by the La Nucía City Council with the participation of the University of Alicante (UA), the UNESCO Chair, and CEFIRE.

The project's objective is for students, teachers, and families in La Nucía to acquire knowledge and criteria for using artificial intelligence tools in an educational, critical, and responsible manner. The initiative stems from the development of a master's final project supervised by the University of Alicante, with contributions from the UNESCO Chair and CEFIRE, and has been transformed into a municipal intervention adapted to identified needs.
Involved in this initiative are the entire educational community of La Nucía, the AMPAs of CEIP Sant Rafael, CEIP La Muixara, and the institute of La Nucía, as well as the Education and Culture departments. Organizers highlight the project's relevance, reinforced by the results of the 2025 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) from the European Union, which underscore the importance of evaluating information, developing critical thinking, and having training to use AI in learning.
The presentation event was attended by Rosabel Roig, UA Vice-Rector and Director of the UNESCO Chair; Bernabé Cano, Mayor of La Nucía; Vicent Martines, Director of the University Campus; Miguel Ángel Lafuente, Director of CEFIRE IA of the Generalitat Valenciana; Ana Belén Martínez, municipal technician coordinating the project; and Pedro Lloret, Councilor for the University Campus.
Mayor Bernabé Cano congratulated all those involved in this project, which he described as pioneering for the educational community, and emphasized that “investing in education is investing in the future, and even more so in a project with AI”.
The project originates from previous research into the educational reality of La Nucía, based on the analysis of transversal programs and dialogue with teachers, students, and families.
