Morella City Council has completed the second phase of the restoration of the 14th-century aqueduct, an action focused on the consolidation of the walls and arches near the church of Santa Llúcia.

The intervention has allowed for the securing of the water channel support points that were still preserved. The works were carried out by the Integrated Center for Economic Services (CISE) works brigade and had a budget of 200,000 euros, largely funded by the Restaura Plan of the Department of Education, Culture and Universities.
The mayor of Morella noted that this phase was fundamental to stop the deterioration of the stone and the instability of the structure. As indicated, the consolidation of the architectural elements was an urgent necessity to guarantee the conservation of this Gothic monument, which was built between the 14th and 15th centuries to supply the city from the Vinatxos spring.
Looking ahead, the council is already preparing the third phase of the works, which will begin in September. This new stage will include the restoration of critical points of the elevated section of La Pedrera and the recovery of an underground tunnel that will become accessible to visitors, with an additional investment of 300,000 euros.
