In collaboration with the Local Police, the Mobility and Traffic departments have organized the opening of the Traffic Children's Park on Friday, September 18th, and the closure of several central streets to traffic on Tuesday, September 22nd.
The Traffic Children's Park will be open on Friday, September 18th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, offering children the opportunity to enjoy its facilities and participate in road safety and education activities.
On Tuesday, September 22nd, starting at 3:00 PM, vehicle circulation will be restricted on Emilio Castelar and its access points from La Font, Pelayo, and Jaume II, as well as the perimeter of La Glorieta and Plaça Vella. This measure aims to temporarily reclaim these spaces for public enjoyment, promoting walking and a more shared use of public space.
The Councilor for Mobility, Isabel Miralles, highlighted the municipal government's commitment to promoting more efficient and sustainable transport methods, such as bicycles and scooters. According to Miralles, this commitment is demonstrated through concrete actions to transform the urban environment and improve accessibility.
Miralles mentioned projects such as the pedestrianization of San Pascual and Almoina streets, near the Market, and the third phase of a unified platform on Daoiz y Velarde street, all aimed at improving pedestrian accessibility and the relationship between people and their surroundings.
The head of Mobility added that work is underway to create a cycle-pedestrian lane connecting the La Estación neighborhood with the urban center, an infrastructure that will expand sustainable mobility options and improve connections between different parts of the city.
Ultimately, all these actions are part of a "progressive commitment to a more accessible, sustainable, and friendly city model," where public spaces facilitate walking and personal mobility, fostering balanced coexistence among road users.
