The square, located at the end of Nueva Street, opposite Joan Miró Square, will open its doors at 8:00 PM. The event is conceived as an open gathering for all residents, collectives, and associative entities of the city.
The naming of this new space pays tribute to Conchi Gran Maestre, a key historical figure and activist in Elda's neighborhood, social, and feminist movement. Her career has established her as a fundamental reference in defending residents' rights, improving neighborhoods, and promoting social cohesion.
The creation of this new enclave is part of the comprehensive urban redevelopment plan for the Historic Center and the La Purísima neighborhood. The projects, managed by the Department of Public Space and Investments, have transformed the area into an accessible and modern zone for leisure and community life. This renovation joins previous work on Joan Miró Square and Nueva Street, creating a completely renewed access to the Historic Center with improved accessibility, lighting, and green areas.
This comprehensive intervention also connects with the redevelopment around the Santa Ana church and the improvement of access routes to the Castle of Elda, aiming to create a more humane, modern, and sustainable city.
The City Council invites all residents to participate in this ceremony, which not only highlights a new meeting point but also honors collective memory and the tireless work of local associations.
