The Municipal Council of Solidarity of Elda has agreed to centralize all financial aid for families affected by the earthquake in Colombia through Red Cross, Cáritas, and Proclade.
The extraordinary meeting, held today at the Civic and Youth Center, was chaired by the Councilor for Solidarity, Anabel García, and attended by the Councilor for Social Welfare, David Guardiola, members of the Municipal Corporation, and representatives of NGOs such as Red Cross, Proclade, Humanist Association, and Consignas Solidarias.
It was unanimously decided that all aid sent from Elda will be financial, thus ensuring an immediate and efficient response channel on the ground for the acquisition of basic supplies. Contributions will be centralized through the bank accounts and Bizum channels opened by Red Cross, Cáritas, and Proclade.
Representatives of the Colombian community residing in Elda conveyed the situation of their relatives in the most affected areas.

"Elda has always proven to be a deeply solidary city, identified with humanitarian causes. Faced with a devastating tragedy like the earthquake that Colombia has suffered, it is essential to act quickly, but also in a coordinated and rigorous manner, so that the efforts of our neighbors are as useful as possible."

"NGOs and emergency teams working on the ground agree that monetary donations are the fastest and most effective way to cover priority needs without overwhelming transport and inventory logistics. Therefore, we ask all Elda citizens who wish to collaborate to do so by channeling their donations exclusively through the official Bizum accounts and channels made available by the Red Cross, Cáritas, and Proclade."
