One of the main novelties of this academic year is the launch, for the first time, of transport aid for students pursuing post-compulsory studies outside the municipality of Aspe, but within the province of Alicante. Through this measure, the council facilitates the travel of young people during their higher educational stage.
This year, the City Council has advanced the signing of agreements with primary, secondary, and adult education centers, allocating a total of 70,000 euros for investments in air conditioning and school supplies. The governing team has criticized the insufficiency of regional aid, which has forced centers to make unforeseen investments to cope with high temperatures. Therefore, the City Council has urged the Conselleria to adequately equip affected schools and has offered municipal funds for this purpose.
Regarding infrastructure, the investment of 5 million euros in the works of the new CEIP La Paloma stands out. The council has also expressed concern about the slowness of projects such as the IES Villa de Aspe and the CEIP Vistahermosa, demanding the acceleration of procedures. Additionally, the City Council is working on the improvement and air conditioning of the Perpetuo Socorro school, the expansion of the IES La Nía, and the improvement of air conditioning and restrooms at the Peñas Blancas Children's School.
In terms of enrollment, Aspe has 1,500 students in early childhood and primary education, 1,500 in secondary education, baccalaureate, and vocational training, and 300 in the Adult School. In terms of inclusion, two UECO classrooms (Specific Units in Mainstream Centers) have been created, one at Dr. Calatayud and another at CEIP La Serranica. A formal request will be made to the Conselleria for the creation of a specific UECO classroom in a local institute.
