Elda Organizes Mental Health Conference Until November 14

The initiative, themed ‘Make a match with your mental health’, includes round tables, film forums, theater, and talks to raise awareness about mental health.

The Elda City Council, through the Department of Health, is organizing the second edition of the Mental Health Conference, which will take place from October 5 to November 14 under the theme ‘Make a match with your mental health’.

The program features various activities such as round tables with professionals, film forums, theater, talks in educational centers, and the setup of information booths. The councilor for the area, Elizabeth Belda, presented the activities alongside Julia Fernández Vicedo, social worker at AFEM-Elda; Estefanía Díaz, social worker at CEEM; and Inés Gisbert, social worker at IMSSE. The events are open to everyone, including health professionals, families, and individuals willing to share their personal testimonies.
The conference begins on Monday, October 5, with a documentary and a round table on ‘Unwanted Loneliness’ at the Salones Princesa at 6:00 PM. On Tuesday, October 6, there will be a round table on ‘Dialogues in Mental Health’ at the same venue and time. On Wednesday, October 7, the film ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ will be screened followed by a discussion. On Thursday, October 8, an open house and the reading of the World Mental Health Day Manifesto will take place at the headquarters of the Association of Relatives of Mental Patients of Elda, Petrer and Comarca at 10:00 AM.
Other notable activities include a round table on ‘Mental Health Resources’ on Thursday, October 15, at the Salones Princesa at 6:00 PM, and the play ‘The Summer My Mother Had Green Eyes’ on Saturday, November 14, at the Teatro Castelar at 8:00 PM.
The Conference also includes talks for 3rd-grade Primary students with the story ‘Fufú y el abrigo verde’, and for 1st-year Baccalaureate students, aiming to prevent, raise awareness, visualize, and normalize mental health issues. Additionally, on October 6 and 13, information booths will be set up at the Mercado Central and the Mercado de San Francisco from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
