Industry in l'Alcoià and el Comtat closes the semester with a 3.7% drop in unemployment

The industrial sector records an improvement in unemployment figures, although hiring falls by 2.3% compared to the previous year.

The industrial sector of the l'Alcoià and el Comtat regions has finished the first half of the year with a positive assessment in unemployment, which has decreased by 3.7% compared to the same period last year.

According to official data, the number of job seekers in the industry has gone from 2,179 to 2,098. Despite this downward trend in unemployment, hiring has not followed the same pace, as it has experienced a 2.3% decrease in relation to the first six months of the previous year.
So far this year, a total of 16,387 contracts have been formalized, of which 41.6% correspond to the industry, which means 6,817 contracts. In the same period last year, the figure was higher, with 6,975 contracts, representing 43.9% of the total.
Data from Labora confirm that the month of June has marked the sixth consecutive decline in unemployment in the area, with 27 fewer unemployed people compared to May, bringing the total figure to 8,705. By sector, the decline has been widespread, except in construction, which has added 14 more unemployed.

On the other hand, affiliation to the Social Security has increased for the fifth consecutive month, with 606 more contributors, reaching a total of 51,155 affiliations during the month of May.
