The Alcoy City Council rejected this Friday, in a plenary session, the request submitted by the UTE comprising Enrique Ortiz and Auplasa, the concessionaire of the La Rosaleda parking lot, to suspend the contract termination procedure initiated by the council. The request was made as a precautionary measure while the administrative-legal appeal against the municipal decision is resolved.
The request was rejected with votes from the PSOE, Compromís, and Guanyar Alcoi, with abstentions from the PP and Vox. The UTE requested the halting of the proceedings until a judicial ruling, but the municipal government argues that the case has not yet been assigned to any court, making it impossible to predict timelines. Furthermore, they believe that accepting the suspension would prolong a situation that keeps a necessary city service closed.
The municipal government is working on the response to technical issues raised by the concessionaire, which will be addressed in the September plenary session. However, the suspension request was processed separately and brought to Friday's plenary to meet the one-month deadline, thus avoiding approval by administrative silence.
The Councilor for Local Administration, Lorena Zamorano, emphasized that the priority is to find a definitive solution to the parking lot problem, aiming for its permanent opening. She stated that the council will defend public interest and will not allow the current concessionaire, who has shown no intention of providing the service, to hinder the contract termination process, which is key to making the parking lot operational again.
