For the second consecutive year, this educational initiative has been carried out to help teachers and students understand meteorological observation through attractive didactic resources. The program addresses issues such as the consequences of Dana (heavy rainfall), heatwaves and cold snaps, or the reason for tropical nights, phenomena that are increasingly frequent due to global warming.
Experts explain what climate change is, its causes and consequences, the types of storms, and how to act during an electrical storm episode. The water cycle and cloud formation are also covered.
Furthermore, professionals teach the functioning of an automatic weather station, the instruments used (rain gauge, barometer, thermometer), and how meteorological variables are measured, as well as the differences between weather and climate.
The initiative has been aimed at students in the second and third cycles of Primary Education, and adapted didactic material has been made available for Secondary Education.
“"Initiatives like this, which bring the reality of climate change into the classroom, are what foster concern for the Planet and common well-being among the children of the municipality. Furthermore, they prepare them to understand and face emergencies, which are increasingly frequent, besides constituting a more dynamic and fun didactic approach for schoolchildren."
