The distinction highlights the municipal commitment to citizen participation and the work to ensure accessible and equitable channels for all residents. The award ceremony took place during a session of the European network Partenalia, chaired by the Provincial Council of Valencia, where the Academy of Citizen Participation was presented. This initiative aims to involve youth and other groups in European construction, fostering their participation in democratic life.
Juan Ramón Adsuara and the Director General of Participation of the Generalitat Valenciana, José Tárrega, presented the awards to provinces and municipalities that have demonstrated outstanding commitment in this area. The distinctions recognized inclusive citizen participation, electoral participation and democratic commitment, the involvement of youth and underrepresented communities, as well as the communication of the European Union and its approach to local citizens.
“"Bringing Europe closer to citizens means that our neighbors know the opportunities it offers and can participate in them. Experiences like those of these four young people show how a European program can translate into learning, coexistence, and new tools for personal development in daily life."
