A Gátova resident, around sixty years old, has been found dead in their home in the municipality after residents were able to return following the forest fire.

The return of residents to Gátova, after being evacuated due to the lightning-sparked fire last Thursday, has led to the discovery of an unexpected death. A person living in the municipality, around sixty years old, was found deceased in their home, located on a central street in the Camp del Túria region.
Municipal sources have confirmed that the death is unrelated to the fire that has affected the Serra Calderona over the past four days. The death occurred before the fire, and it is believed the person lived alone and had no close ties with neighbors. Their death and the time elapsed since then became apparent with the general return of inhabitants to the town this Sunday.
A police operation, including officers from the Guardia Civil, judicial police, and a hearse, secured the area. The body recovery was completed after three in the afternoon by the judicial commission. The Mayor's office of the town states they are unaware of the exact causes of death or when it occurred, but reiterate it is not linked to the forest fire.
