The Sagunt a Escena festival has successfully expanded its capacity for its 43rd edition, which kicks off this Saturday, August 1st. This new edition will feature 804 seats, an increase of 196 from the previous two editions. This recovery of seats allows for more attendees, although it is still far from the 1200 seats available in 2023, before capacity had to be reduced due to the condition of the Roman Theatre.
The increase in seating, which was planned by the festival's management, became a reality this week with the sale of tickets for cávea C, the upper section where key improvements to evacuation systems have been made, a crucial factor in capacity calculations.
The capacity reduction dates back to 2024, when the festival had to face a 30% limitation due to safety, access, and evacuation plan issues concerning the monument. For this edition, the festival assures that they are operating 'within what regulations and legislation permit at this time'.
Prior to the start of this 43rd edition, improvements have been made to access, stair construction, restroom upgrades, safety net installation, and railing repairs. These actions, along with resolving water leaks, have made it possible to increase the capacity to 804 seats.
