The Councilor for Public Services, Claudio Guilabert, visited this Tuesday the renovation works of the planters in the Nieves Berenguer Garden, located on Obispo Barrachina street. These works resumed a few weeks ago after the resolution of the previous contract due to deficiencies and delays.
As explained by Guilabert, the tasks are progressing on schedule. The upper finish of the planters in the 1st and 2nd squares has already been executed with draining mortar, the irrigation network has been replaced, and new trees have been planted.
Currently, the works are focused on the 3rd square, where the existing planters are being demolished to construct new ones, which will be made of exposed reinforced concrete. The upper finish will be done with a draining concrete slab and gravel, thus addressing the residents' request.
The project includes the renovation of 26 planters covering a total length of 440 meters. Additionally, the central space will be improved, and the urban furniture will be renewed. The works, awarded to Obras y Servicios P. Selva S.L. for 160,325 euros, have an execution period of three months.
The councilor highlighted the good pace of the works, which include demolitions and subsequent formwork, to achieve a modern park that the residents deserve. The old planters showed problems such as cracks and detachments caused by tree roots, issues that this renovation will resolve.
Guilabert also pointed out the council's investment efforts in neighborhoods like Carrús, mentioning other projects such as the Pabellón Inclusivo, José García Fernández street, the markets of Plaza Madrid and Plaza Barcelona, Ausiàs March avenue, the Porfirio Pascual neighborhood, or Jayton.
