The Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) celebrates the award given to Pilar Legua, head of the Department of Plant Production, at the 2026 Únicas Gala in Orihuela. The award recognizes her work in the Education category.
The gala, which this year honored nine women across eight different categories, highlights professional, personal, and social careers linked to the city of Orihuela. The event aims to showcase women's contributions in social, educational, scientific, cultural, and economic fields.
Pilar Legua, an agricultural engineer, has over 25 years of experience at the UMH. She currently also leads the Research Group in Fruit Farming and Production Techniques. Her work combines teaching with research, participating in national and international projects. She has received the Award for Teaching Excellence for twelve consecutive calls.
