The Miguel Hernández University (UMH) and the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (Slovakia) have strengthened their scientific and academic collaboration through a visit to the UMH's CIAGRO and the Orihuela Higher Polytechnic School.

A delegation from the Department of Zoology and Anthropology at the Slovak university participated in technical and scientific working sessions with the CIAGRO-UMH team. The meeting, organized by UMH professor María José Argente, is part of a national R&D&I project focused on the response to heat stress.
The Slovak delegation, including Alexander Sirotkin, Michaela Foldešová, and Monika Žáčiková, along with students Klara Bobčeková and Kristina Brocková, collaborated closely with researchers such as María José Argente Carrascosa, María de la Luz García Pardo, and Iván Agea Durán.
The primary objective was to delve into the biological mechanisms regulating adaptive responses to prolonged thermal stress. Synergistic work involved combining rabbit lines selected for resilience, developed by the UMH group, with the expertise of Dr. Alexander Sirotkin's team in evaluating oocyte quality and granulosa cell functionality.
This cooperation will enhance the understanding of biomolecular processes influencing reproductive efficiency and the behavior of genetic lines under heat impact. Furthermore, the initiative strengthens institutional ties, promotes scientific publications in high-impact journals, and increases the UMH's visibility within the European Research Area in Animal Physiology and Genetics.
