The Local Government Board of Elche has awarded the contract to build 2,364 niches at the San Agatángelo Cemetery, with a budget exceeding four million euros.

The project, which has a 24-month execution period, includes the creation of 2,212 single niches and 152 double niches on a 6,700-square-meter plot. The work aims to optimize available space by replacing the current fencing with niche blocks and improving access and utility networks.
In addition to the funeral expansion, the council has approved collaboration agreements with various entities, such as the Viu Elx al Carrer Association for the theater festival, and the Red Cross for social care projects. An agreement has also been formalized with the Paiporta City Council for the recovery of school environments affected by the DANA.
Finally, the rest period for the August festivities has been set between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM, and the local holidays for 2027 have been designated: April 5th, for San Vicente Ferrer, and December 29th, for the Venida de la Virgen.
