The Elche City Council has awarded the lease for a property to establish a new Social Center in Pla Nord, which will house Social Services, Youth, and an OMAC.

The Elche City Council has advanced in the modernization of municipal social services by awarding the lease for a property to house the new Social Center in the Pla Nord area, corresponding to Zone 4 of the new territorial organization of Primary Care Social Services.
This new center, located at Capitán Baltasar Tristany street, number 10, will consolidate Social Services Primary Care, Youth facilities, and an OMAC within a single building. The aim is to provide closer and more accessible support to residents of the neighborhoods of Corazón de Jesús, Obispo Siuri, Pla Oeste, and El Pla.
The Councilor for Social Action, Celia Lastra, highlighted that this new center represents a step forward in the transformation of Elche's Social Services, seeking more modern and accessible spaces for both professionals and citizens.
The new facility will overcome the space limitations of the current center, including offices for social care, an Administrative Center Unit, a meeting room, and necessary spaces for professional teams, thereby fostering interdisciplinary and coordinated intervention.
Furthermore, the center will feature areas for workshops and activities for various groups and ages, with initiatives such as memory workshops, psychology, guitar, yoga, gymnastics, or painting, aiming to be a space for participation and coexistence open to the neighborhood.
The consolidation of services will not only improve care but also optimize resources and generate municipal savings by terminating the current leases for the youth center and the youth hall in the area.
The creation of this center is part of the transformation of Social Services initiated in April, with a new zoning system that expanded the primary care basic zones from four to seven, aiming to bring services closer to the needs of each neighborhood and offer more personalized and effective support.
The councilor also recalled that, since August, a single Social Services phone number has been operational for the entire municipality, 966 659 210, staffed by eight professionals to provide information and schedule appointments.
