Elche City Council has concluded the vehicle evacuation work at the first yard operating without an opening license in the Torrellano district. This space, approximately 20,000 square meters, has met the deadline for the complete cessation of activity.
At the end of June, the mayor announced the first of these closures, framed within the municipal objective to "guarantee compliance with urban planning legality and facility safety." The action is part of a complete administrative procedure with all due guarantees.
Following actions taken in July, three yards have now been closed by the City Council since the municipal operation began, which remains active. Currently, other advanced cases are in the resolution phase, with upcoming closures anticipated, particularly for those that started operations after a municipal motion on April 23rd.
Over 110 yards have been identified within the municipality. Of these, 45 predate the General Plan modification and are under review for potential regularization. Their owners have three months to submit technical projects and required documentation. Approximately 30 facilities with provisional licenses from 2005 are being re-evaluated due to expansions or modifications of their initially authorized activities.
The municipal government has emphasized that the goal is to ensure all activities operate under equal conditions and in accordance with the law, acting firmly against facilities without licenses, while respecting administrative procedures and the legal certainty of those involved.
