Tomorrow, Friday, September 25th, the European Researchers' Night will be celebrated with an extensive program of activities organized by the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH). The events will take place in morning and afternoon sessions, spread across the Elche campus, the Orihuela-Desamparados campus, and also in Alicante.
During the morning, the Interactive Didactic Museum of Sciences of Vega Baja – Jesús Carnicer (MUDIC), located on the Orihuela-Desamparados campus, will offer workshops for schoolchildren such as 'Mathemagic, It's not magic, it's science,' another on caring for the seas, and one on safe fish-based foods. A conference will also be held on the intense rains that caused the floods of September 2019 in the Vega Baja. In the afternoon, starting at 6:00 PM, MUDIC will organize more science workshops at the Espacio Séneca in Alicante, dedicated to different disciplines and women researchers.
In parallel, at 5:30 PM, the Research Institute of Biotechnology and Health (IDiBE) of the UMH has organized a new edition of 'Science with Tapas' at the Elche campus. The talk, titled 'From the laboratory to the patient: Science, Innovation, and Hope in the treatment of Brain Cancer,' will be given by researchers Camino De Juan and Blanca Lumbreras. The event will be presented by the director of IDiBE, Antonio Ferrer, and moderated by researcher Marina López. Attendees will be able to enjoy tapas during the session.
The UMH will also host a new session of 'Eureka! Music and Science' from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM in the Auditorium of the Elche campus. This event, presented by science communicator Lucía Almagro, will combine knowledge, innovation, and live music. Researcher Ana Belén Ropero and pianist and influencer Elesky will participate. This activity is funded by the Conselleria de Innovación, Industria, Comercio y Turismo.
