The pact, which coincides with the tenth anniversary of the academic institution's presence in the municipality, is valid for four years. The investment planned by the council amounts to nearly 650,000 euros, distributed between the 2026 and 2029 financial years, to finance both the branch's activities and the operation of the smart tourism laboratory.
The collaboration also includes support for scientific research projects in the Torrevieja and La Mata lagoons, focused on the study of extremophile microorganisms. In addition, the university branch will soon be integrated into the new facilities of the Torrevieja Interuniversity Headquarters, which is scheduled to open in September.
As a notable novelty, the new Master's Degree in Management and Direction of Urban Public Services has been presented, which will begin to be taught in the 2026-2027 academic year. This degree, designed in collaboration with the business sector, aims to train professionals in the efficient and sustainable management of services such as cleaning, waste collection, and the maintenance of public spaces.
