The Orihuela City Council, through its Employment Promotion Department, has provided employment opportunities to three unemployed individuals via the EMDONA and EMCORP 2026 programs. These initiatives, announced by LABORA (Valencian Employment and Training Service), were made possible by grants totaling €77,603.26.
These grants facilitate ten-month employment contracts, while also fostering the acquisition of professional experience and improving participants' future job prospects.
The EMDONA 2026 program, focused on the hiring of unemployed women by city councils, has awarded Orihuela a grant of €39,314.48. This call prioritizes women over 45, aiming to enhance their employability through work experience.
Under this program, two women have been hired: one as an administrative assistant and another as a cleaner. The contracts will last for ten months, from July 30, 2026, to May 29, 2027.
Meanwhile, the EMCORP 2026 program, aimed at unemployed individuals under 30, has provided a grant of €38,288.78. This funding will enable the hiring of a higher technician in Forest and Natural Environment Management, also for ten months, from July 31, 2026, to May 30, 2027.

The Councilor for Employment Promotion, Víctor Valverde, highlighted the significance of these programs in offering genuine opportunities and crucial work experience.
“"From the City Council, we continue to work and apply for various LABORA calls to leverage all available resources that allow us to generate employment opportunities in Orihuela, especially among those groups that may face greater difficulties in accessing the labor market."
Valverde added that the City Council is actively participating in LABORA's calls to create job opportunities in Orihuela, particularly for groups facing employment challenges. Both grants are funded by the State Public Employment Service.
The municipal official affirmed that the City Council will maintain its commitment to these programs, as each hiring represents an avenue for gaining experience and enhancing employability.
