The intervention, with an investment close to 22,000 euros, involved the installation of 10 new lampposts, nine meters high, and the renovation of existing luminaires. Both new and old light points now feature 80-watt LED technology, significantly improving the lighting conditions of this stretch.
The action addressed the need to reinforce lighting after works carried out by the Provincial Council of Alicante late last year. That project enabled the creation of the first section of the Hurchillo-Bigastro cycle path and the improvement of access to the public school, creating a wider road that rendered the previous lighting inadequate.
The Councilor for Infrastructure, Víctor Valverde, stated that the previous lighting "had become ineffective in ensuring adequate illumination across the entire width of the new road," emphasizing the importance of the upgrade for safety and visibility.
Additionally, a new electrical line has been established from the main control panel, allowing for the zoning of the area's lighting and optimizing the entire system's performance.
The project also included improving the lighting in the parking area adjacent to the school, a space frequently used by residents. Specific projectors have been installed to meet the demand for more parking spaces and enhance safety in the vicinity.

Valverde highlighted that these actions are part of the Orihuela City Council's plan to modernize public lighting in both the urban center and its districts, adapting installations to new needs.
