Fires declared in Sax and Catral on Saturday are now under control

Extinguishing teams have managed to put out the flames in both municipalities with no injuries reported.

Emergency services have brought under control two fires declared this Saturday in the municipalities of Sax and Catral, following an intense day of work in which no injuries were reported.

The first fire started at 13:02 in a reed area located between Rodrigo Triana street and the Vinalopó river, in the municipality of Sax. Personnel from the Elda fire station, as well as forest fire crews from the Generalitat Valenciana and aerial assets, were deployed to the area for extinguishing efforts.
Subsequently, at 17:41, a second fire was declared in a vegetation area next to the AP-7 motorway, at kilometer point 733 in Catral. This operation involved crews from the Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium, coming from the Crevillente station and the mobile unit, supported by a coordination helicopter.
Extinguishing teams managed to stabilize the Catral fire at 20:16, declaring it under control an hour later. Meanwhile, the Sax fire was brought under control at 22:31 on Saturday, with both operations concluding without any personal injuries.
