The municipality of Almoradí will once again be a national reference point for petanque with the celebration of the Spanish Petanque Championship in the men's second category doubles. The competition will take place on September 25, 26, and 27 at the facilities of the Club de Petanca Almoradí.
This national event signifies the continuation of the Spanish Petanque Federation's commitment to Almoradí, following the success of the previous edition, and reaffirms the trust in the municipality as a venue for major sporting events.
The official presentation of the championship was attended by the Mayor of Almoradí, María Gómez; the Councilor for Sports, Carmen Berná; the representative of the Club de Petanca Almoradí, Francisco Coll; and the president of the Spanish Petanque Federation, Antonio Pérez.
“"Almoradí is once again hosting a Spanish Petanque Championship, thanks to the success of organization and participation in the last edition. The result of the good work done by all parties puts our municipality back in the spotlight of national petanque."
Carmen Berná highlighted that this new event is "an opportunity to enjoy top-level petanque and to continue putting Almoradí on the national map for this sport", and thanked the work of the Club Petanca Almoradí, its president Daniel Coll, and the confidence of the Spanish Petanque Federation.
The Mayor María Gómez emphasized the importance of the municipality hosting a national competition again, stating that "the Federation once again trusts Almoradí and the capacity of our Petanque Club to organize a championship of these characteristics". She also noted that these events "allow us to project the name of Almoradí beyond our municipality and attract players, families, and fans from different parts of Spain".
For his part, Francisco Coll, representative of the Club Petanca Almoradí, expressed his satisfaction with the repeated hosting and highlighted the involvement of members and the board to ensure the championship's smooth running, stating that "the club and members are enthusiastic and we will have two teams participating".
The president of the Spanish Petanque Federation, Antonio Pérez, positively valued Almoradí's selection for the second consecutive year, remarking on the positive experience of last year and the organizational capacity demonstrated by the club and the City Council. "It is no coincidence that a Spanish Championship is repeated this year. Last year, all parties were involved to make it a resounding success, especially due to the great organization that took place", he stated.
During the three days of competition, the facilities of the Club Petanca Almoradí will host players and fans from all over Spain, turning Almoradí into a meeting point for followers of this sport.
With this event, Almoradí reinforces its position as a benchmark venue for petanque nationally and continues the collaboration between the City Council, the Club Petanca Almoradí, and the Spanish Petanque Federation, which previously led to national championships being held in the town in 2002, 2005, and 2025.
