The DONAEL initiative, to be developed in Daya Vieja, Daya Nueva, Benferri, Jacarilla, San Isidro, and Granja de Rocamora, aims to improve the professional skills, digital autonomy, and entrepreneurship opportunities for women in Vega Baja del Segura. It is expected to reach a total of 100 women through six training pathways, each lasting 20 hours, taking place from October 27 to December 4.
Interested women can register through the platform available at convega.com or by contacting the Local Development Agencies in the participating municipalities. Planned activities include training workshops on food handling, linked to key sectors such as the agri-food industry, hospitality, or food retail.
Workshops on active job searching using digital tools will also be held, where participants will learn to use job portals, create and update their resumes, and apply for positions. Additionally, information and business motivation workshops will be offered to introduce entrepreneurship and self-employment possibilities. Women with a business idea can access CONVEGA's Business Advisory service.
The program's launch addresses the reality that women represent 60.05% of registered unemployment in Vega Baja, with 12,861 unemployed women according to LABORA data from August 2026. The president of CONVEGA, Carlos Pastor, stated that “with this program, we want to bring real training, employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities to the women of the region, enabling them to access specialized resources”.
Pastor highlighted that “our goals are to address the difficulties women face in accessing the labor market from a local perspective, improving professional and digital skills and providing tools that can translate into new employment opportunities or the launch of business initiatives.” The initiative is supported by the First Vice Presidency and Ministry of Housing, Employment, Youth, and Equality of the Generalitat Valenciana and the collaboration of local town councils.
