The Civil Guard has identified three men as the alleged perpetrators of several forest fires that occurred recently in different parts of the province of Castellón.

The open judicial proceedings focus on three separate incidents. The first took place in Soneja in mid-June, where a fire broke out on an agricultural plot near the town center. The second case corresponds to an attempted fire registered on June 20 next to the CV-190 road, in the municipality of Atzeneta del Maestrat. Finally, the third investigated incident occurred in Sant Mateu, where a bonfire ended up spreading to the forest area.
The Seprona has taken over the investigation to determine the responsibilities of those involved. The suspects face potential administrative sanctions that could reach 600,000 euros, in addition to civil and criminal liabilities derived from the damage caused and the costs generated by the extinguishing efforts.
