The municipality of Alcalà de Xivert was chosen as a filming location for the short film 'El hombre afable', a production that is part of the 14th edition of the ‘Cortometrando’ festival.

Throughout July and August, Alcalà de Xivert experienced intense cinematic activity with the filming of ‘El hombre afable’, a short film directed by Carlos Granell. This production is part of the 14th edition of the ‘Cortometrando’ Short Film Festival, an initiative by the Provincial Council of Castelló. The chosen locations for the shoot included emblematic sites such as the Casa del Metge (Doctor's House), Ricardo Cardona Square, the Casa de la Cultura (House of Culture), the Church Square, its bell tower, and several streets in the town center. The local Theater Group also played a significant role as extras.
Alcalà de Xivert was one of five municipalities selected this year to host the festival's filming sessions, alongside Barracas, Moncofa, Morella, and Traiguera. Through this initiative, the Provincial Council of Castelló aims to foster audiovisual creation and showcase the rich natural, cultural, architectural, and historical heritage of the province's towns as settings for new productions.
Participation in the ‘Cortometrando’ project offers a significant opportunity for Alcalà de Xivert, enabling the town to be showcased from an artistic perspective and promoting its legacy through the cinematic medium. The short film will feature its streets, buildings, and landscapes to a wider audience.

"The staging of this filming represents a magnificent opportunity for Alcalà de Xivert to become a cinema set and to showcase our heritage and spaces from a different perspective."

Francisco Juan · Mayor of Alcalà-Alcossebre
